Problem: My 23 mos old son has been waking between 4:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m for about 3 and 1/2 weeks. His normal bedtime is 9 p.m. weekdays and 10 or 10:30 on weekends. Me and my husband are both in the room when either of us gets him ready for bed. He has a cup of milk, juice, or water before he gets in bed and we read a story or play with him. We all get up Mon-Fri at 6 a.m. to get ready for work and daycare, I've tried putting him to bed 30 minutes later than he normally goes and he still wakes up. Sometimes he'll wake up and cry for an hour non-stop or he'll call mamam or dada for a while. Sometimes this gets kind of stressful because you go in his room and tell him to lay down, he lays but as soon as we depart the room he's back at it. He's been in his own room since he was about 12 months and I don't want him thinking that every time he cries or wants us that we're going to come get him and put him in our bed. Some nights we do because we want to get some sleep. Often he still does not go back to sleep when he gets in our bed, he'll stay up until it's time for work and the thing is he's so full of energy, which I can't understand. My husband feels he just don't want to go to sleep and he yells and get frustrated because he can't get back to sleep and have to go to work the next day. Could you please tell us what we can do to help this matter.
