I would often had to deal with "mommie/daddy buy me this, buy me that." What my husband and I did was to let her know beforehand what to expect and going into the store that we are not buying any toys in the store but we can take a look at the toy section. Before getting out of the car, we would make her repeat what we had said. Once she repeated the shopping rule " no buying toys but we can look at toys" after us, we often leave the store in a good mood. While looking at the toy section, our daughter would say, "I like this" and we've kept a mental note what to get for Christmas :-) This method has helped us a lot.
