Ages of kids: 4, 9, 13

When my daughters come to me with their problems and are expecting me to do all the thinking and solve their problems for them....I say, "How sad for you. What are you going to do about that?" and if they really need help with the problem I add, "Would you like some ideas?" and then I give them good and bad ideas so they can make a choice. I want my children to think for themselves.
