Potty as a Stall Tactic!

Problem: My daughter wants to go to the potty all the time. She is especially interested before bed and naptime. She also wants to go at least every 15 to 20 minutes on weekends. Sometimes she is successful. I'm beginning to think she is able to pee on command. The problem is, if we were to go to the bathroom as often as she wants, we would be there all weekend. Also, between trips to the potty she is still going in her diaper. I had been taking a laissez faire approach to the whole thing -- figuring she would be ready when she was a little older. Now I don't know what to do. I don't want to discourage her, but I cannot spend all weekend in the bathroom. Any answers?

Solution submitted by Kaci from Wichita Falls, KS: My son is 2 and he started potty training today officially. He has been working his way up to it for awhile. Like the past couple of weeks when he thinks to he will tell me PEE PEE in there, and then I will put him on the toilet and he will go sometimes. Usually he has to go about 10 times before naps and bedtime heheheh. Well, after 3 times now I just put a diaper on him and tell him to try and stay dry. Today was a great day with only one accident at dinner time. He stayed dry all day, and went to the potty on and off all day. I pushed fluids today to make sure that he would be going often and that he got the major idea to go on the potty. I keep telling him OVER AND OVER- "Pee Pee goes in the POTTY!" Now I will say, Pee Pee goes in the... and he says POTTY! so he knows!!! I have let him run around during the day without a diaper on. This helps him with not having to worry about getting his diaper off fast enough. I bought him some training pants and some Toy Story underwear. He is so excited about them.

My son isn't fully articulate and he isn't great at getting his clothes off yet(heck the kid doesn't even crawl out of his crib yet) But this potty training is going pretty good after 2 days. :) I would say, get rid of the diapers(use pullups at nap and nighttime) and just put your daughter on a schedule.
