Do not be on another channel that might be deemed offensive or sexual in nature.

  • When someone comes into the #!Parentsroom Channel on IRC, the channel operator(s) will automatically do a "/whois" on your nickname. This will reveal any other channels that you happen to be on at the same time. You are certainly welcome to be on more than one channel. However, if the channel operator deems that the other channel(s) you are on are offensive or sexual in nature, you will be asked to remove yourself from the "offensive" channel, or to leave. If you do not do either of these, you will be kicked from the channel. You will be welcome back to the channel after removing yourself from the other channels in question.

  • If someone is kicked for being on an offensive channel, and gets back in the #!Parentsroom Channel without having removed themselves from the offensive channel, they will once again be kicked, and then banned. (They will not be able to get back in the #!Parentsroom.)

  • What is deemed offensive or sexual is solely up to the channel operator at the time. If anyone feels that they were unfairly kicked from the channel, feel free to query the channel operator and explain. Occasionally mistakes do happen and someone gets inadvertently kicked.

No racial or ethnic jokes are ever allowed at any time on the #!Parentsroom Channel.

If a person on the #!Parentsroom Channel starts to tell a racial or ethnic joke, they will be asked to stop. If they continue to tell them, they will immediately be kicked out and banned by the channel operator.

All people who chat in the #!Parentsroom should behave in a manner that is respectful towards the others in the channel at the time.

Please refrain from name calling, etc. while in the #!Parentsroom. Healthy debate and argument are welcome, but personal attacks against others in the channel is unacceptable. Differences in opinion will always surface, please try and handle these in a mature fashion.

If you are the only person in the channel and or the only channel operator, please make sure you are paying attention to the channel in case another person enters.

Many times a person comes in the channel when no one else is on. In this circumstance, he/she will be the channel operator. It is fine to stay in the channel and wait for others to enter, however, if you do this, please make sure you pay attention to the channel in case someone does come in. Nothing more frustrating than entering a channel with someone there, and having them not say anything, or not give ops because they are not paying attention. You can still surf the web while you are in the channel, just minimize the parentsroom channel window, and make your browser window slightly smaller so you can still see your IRC window behind your browser. Then you can see while on the web if your channel window lights up!

That's basically it for the rules. We don't want the channel to have loads of rules and regulations, and we don't believe in censorship, but we do want the channel to be a place where ALL can feel comfortable to chat. Anyone who doesn't agree with these rules or can't abide by them is welcome to NOT come into the channel and/or e-mail us with their concerns.

Feel free to e-mail the Parentsroom if you have any questions about or problems with these rules.
