Problem: My daughter will go to the potty when I take her. She will sit on the pot for a minute or two then decide that she no longer wants to be on the potty then cries then screams. What should I do? She knows that is where mommy and daddy go and the cat has her own potty and her stuffed animals go potty not in their pants. Please help.
Solution submitted by "Jolie" from Winchester, KY: I have a 2 1/2 year old little boy and we are going through "potty training" now. I have not pushed him and he has done GREAT!! I bought the little potty when he turned 2, but I did not force him to use it, I bought it and left it in the bathroom so he could get used to it. We started learning on July 4th, (long weekend away from work) and he has really trained himself. He has only had a couple accidents. I feel very lucky. I think the key is to let the kids make the choice when to start. We went and bought "big boy underwear" which he loves to wear. He still wears pull-ups at night, but he wears underwear all day, even through nap time.
Another solution submitted by "momof2" from Whistler, BC CAN: I am the mother of 2 kids and I am in the middle of potty training, myself. When my son was 21 months old he started using the potty and then stopped at 22 months. He started again at 29 months and stopped at 30 months. I know it was the result of me pushing him too hard. I only have one piece of advice *WAIT*. Make the potty available and help her with getting her pants down etc...Nobody would like to see my son out of diapers more than me. But he is rebelling (like all 2 yr olds). Good luck and have patience. Your child will eventually use the potty one day!!!!!
Another solution submitted by JoAnn from Garland, TX: I have a 32month Old girl And she potty trained at 26 months completely. I had the same problems as you are. Just take her potty occasionally throughout the day. Don't push her and don't get discouraged She'll let you know when she is ready. She has been potty trained for 6 months now, with no accidents, even at night. I believe they really potty train themselves with just a little guidance from the parents. Good Luck. !!!!!!!!!!
