Number of kids: 3
Ages of kids: 7, 4, 3
Problem: My youngest daughter has frequent accidents. For the most part, I don't make a big deal of it, but I have explained my frustration, and when it happens more than twice I let her know I am disappointed. She is very smart, very independent, very much her own person. I ask frequently if she has to go-her answer is no, and sometimes it is because she had an accident, and doesn't want to tell anyone. This is now a habit.
My other two children are boys and has only brief incidents at 3 years of age. How long do I have to wait!! She doesn't do it at school or at the sitter's; she does it with me, and I cannot for the life of me understand how it came to this. I work very hard to stay firm with her, and at this phase giving her choices is not the answer. I hope that when she is four we can start using that tactic. I will not reward behavior for something that is a part of normal living.
I'm not sure where to go from here, and I'd like to move forward. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
