There is no good answer for whether kids should use these or not. Many years in the dental office have convinced me that it depends on your child and their "expertise" when they brush. You may not even know this but it is a good idea to find out.
By the time children go to school, parents tend to let them brush their teeth alone. This can be a problem. When they are toddlers they usually like to do this. As they age, it becomes more of a chore than a fun thing to do. However, they are not always proficient in this task.
If the dentist or hygienist finds decay, that is a huge red flag. No matter what age they are, parents should either be monitoring brushing in person or doing it for the child.
A power brush can make the experience more fun and therefore less a chore. However, the brush still need manipulation. It is not automatic. Running it over the front teeth doesn't help the back ones. Focasing on the chewing surface doesn't help the front and back of the tooth.
Go over all the reccomendations you have received about your own care and apply that to your children's teeth. There is really no difference.
Some children do a better job with the power brush and some do not. Check it out when they get their dental checkups and look yourself in between appointments.
