How Old Should a Child Be before they Have a TV in THeir Room?
How old do you think a child ought to be before they can have a TV in their own room? We are getting a new one and I'm thinking of putting our old one in the kids room (ages 7 and 9).

My kids each have TV's in their rooms and have had them for a while... but they hardly watch them.

The boys have a Wii hooked up to theirs and my daughter has a DVD player but unless they are sick and confined to their rooms, they aren't used much. My kids prefer to be in the family room with everyone else, or in the office using the computers!

I don't think there is a "right" age to have one but I do think you have to monitor how they are used... you really don't want kids to get in the habit of having one on all the time.

It's not having the TV that matters (in my opinion!) It's how it's used, no matter what room it's in.

I don't really think they should ever have a TV in their rooms, personally.   Kids today watch too much tv!

I don't have a problem with a TV in the bedroom.  It actually gives us something to use as leverage to get chores done.

No TV til your room is cleaned, for example.

I think the big thing is to NOT let them fall asleep with theTV on- that's a habit that can cause long term issues, IMO.

I don't think kids should EVAR have a TV in their room!  AT ANY AGE.  It really makes me crazy to see how families don't interact anymore, they just watch TV or play on the computer.   No offense, but just say no.

Keeping up with my little monster is fun.
