The weather is beautiful- it's time to enjoy it with your kids before things turn cold and gray. What is there to do? Plenty! Hayrides, corn mazes, fresh produce and pumpkin picking all come to mind, not to mention there are festivals nearly every weekend in October! If haunted houses are more of your thing, we've got you covered there too.
So, what's close by? Start by checking out our Pick Your Own Farms page. That's where you'll find the places that offer fall fun. Whether they have actual produce or just outdoor fun like hayrides and corn mazes, that's where we've listed them. (Feel free to login and add any we might have missed!)
Then take a look at our Holiday events category for upcoming events. That page will list the seasonal fun being offered both at farms and other places like your library. If you know of events that ought to be listed here but aren't feel free to login and add them! (You'll have to wait for an editor to approve them but they should show up within an hour or so.)
Coming soon, we'll be listing pumpkin patches separately. Buying pumpkins from a local farmer or group makes me feel like I'm doing something postive for the community and local economy and they make fabulous backdrops for fall photos of your kids. The colors are vibrant, the sun is usually a little muted this time of year and the photos just pop. Some of my favorite photos of my babies are the ones of them propped up on or sitting on pumpkins!
