I got a Kindle from my children at Christmas. It is definitely a different way to enjoy the written word. The pluses include the lack of eye strain because it has such a soft backround. If you have any vision issues, the font size can be changed and there is a feature that actually will read to you. I can't use that as I go to sleep but what an excellent feature for some people. If you have someone handicapped in your family, it is great. If you buy a case for it, it can even stand on a table. You don't have to hold it. But if you do, it is lightweight. There are books galore, even free ones. Best sellers are less expensive on the Kindle. You can buy children's books, magazines, newspapers. I have recently learned there are lending web sites. The downside? You don't have a book for your shelf, you can't see the thickness or size of the book. Look into it for that person in your family that needs the portability, the ease, and the continued enjoyment of reading.
