Help with Potty training

Hello! Teddy

My son is almost 4 and still not potty trained.  We've tried scheduling potty breaks, offering rewards and even have started to admonish him at each diaper change.  We are just so frustrated- he can't go to preschool if he's not trained.

Any ideas? flush

Have you tried putting Froot loops in the potty and telling him to aim for them?  My boys loved doing that.  It was a game!

Toss a few fruit loops in the toilet and tell him to aim at the ceral and try to sink it.  My boys loved that game and would really try to go potty so that they could play.  Try it!

Keeping up with my little monster is fun.

Re: Help with Potty training

hi fundeb. How's the potty training going? Have you checked with your pediatrician to be sure there are no physical reasons your son is having trouble with potty training? Have you tried pull-ups or training pants? Try the library for books about potty training. You should be able to find books written for young children about the topic as well as books that offer tips to parents on the subject. Let us know how it goes.

Re: Help with Potty training

Hi Imagine That. Thanks for asking, I haven't been back here in a while.

The answer we came up with was putting him in daycare for the last month of summer. Believe it or not, they accomplished what I couldn't. My mother in law suggested it and she was right. When Aiden saw all the other kids going potty, he wanted to go too. And he never had an accident at the day care center.

Because he's been home with me all this time, it was hard to drop him off everyday but I think being around other kids has really gotten him up to speed with where he needs to be.

hi hassie! That's great news! clap Sounds like Aiden has taken everything in stride. Will he continue with daycare? What does he enjoy most about daycare? How are you adjusting to having him away during the day?

Re: Help with Potty training

It's good that your son finally did it. With my daughter, what worked for her were skin paint. I drew flowers or stars with on her arm everytime she went to her potty chair.
