Number of kids: 2
Ages of kids: 2 and 4
Problem:My 2 year old daughter tends to throw temper tantrums which usually take place in the wee hours of the morning, I know she wants my attention and does not want to go back to bed, but that is not acceptable at that time at that time. We have tried to let her scream it out but after two hours we give in. My husband is not willing to try that again so usually what happens is we spank threaten to call to police, put her in the garage anything to make her go back to bed. She is a very smart little girl and I can reason with her well in other cases but not when she is losing it. I feel terrible about the threatening but it is the only thing that will stop the screaming . I am a stay home Mom and devote all my time to my children and feel very frustrated with this problem. HELP!!
Solution submitted by Trisha from OK:
For more information on sleep terrors or sleep issues in general, read this book:
"Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems"
by Dr. Richard Ferber. This book has helped me and my friends!
Another solution submitted by "Joyce": If your Child is having the tantrums while she sleeps it sounds like it could be that she is having night terrors, not tantrums. When a child has one, they are not physically awake and do not have any recollection in the morning. It is a normal developmental behavior at ages two through four. Ask your child's Doctor the best way to handle them, every child is different.
