Problem: How to get your child to love to read?
Solution posted by "Skyvis":My suggestion for you is to first find out what types of things interest your child the most. Then start with books about that subject. For instance, if your child loves spiders then start with some informative books on spiders. Kids tend to want to read more when the material interests them, and reading is a great vocabulary builder.
Also do you and/or you husband read a lot? Kids often have a greater love for books if they see their parents reading often and have access to lots of books.
The most important thing is to make reading fun for your child and not seem like such a chore. Maybe you could make up some games that entail having to read. Scrabble, trivia games and the like are good because there is some reading involved in playing the games.
