"Making Children Mind Without Losing Yours" by Dr. Kevin Leman

Does this sound familiar? You spend twenty minutes trying to get your children up and ready for school while your three year-old throws a tantrum? If it does, this book if for you.

I have spent countless hours trying to smooth things over so everything runs smoothly, only to have my children whining and complaining about something. The stress got so bad that Calgon wouldn't even take me away!

Dr. Leman's book helped me use the reality approach for these Book Jacketsituations instead of just losing my head. He gives many tips on how to defuse situations before they get out of hand. I used to repeatedly give my children chores and find they were not done unless I stood over them like a drill sargeant. No amount of punishment stopped it. It made me think that I wasn't doing something right. They were winning the battle of wills. Using what Dr. Leman calls the "reality approach," (which you can find out about in this book), this doesn't occur anymore. I found Dr. Leman's advice to be extremely helpful.
