Problem: I have a 2 1/2 Month old son who sleeps 9-10 hrs at night. When he wakes up, I change him, feed him and then sometimes he goes right back to sleep for a couple more hours. I know this probably doesn't sound like a problem to some mothers, I just would like to know if there any other babies like this. He does stay awake for 6-7hrs without a nap sometimes. I have 3 other children, but I just can't remember what their sleeping habits were like. (My oldest child is 19 years old.) Someone let me know if this is normal. P.S. He is a healthy baby and has a real good appetite.
Solution submitted by Gonic from NH: I have a daughter that is 21 months old and she goes to bed at 7:30 PM and doesn't wake up until 7:00 AM. Then she plays for about an hour and eats then by 9:00 AM, takes a 2 to a 2 1/2 hour nap. Then in the afternoon she has another nap. I told her doctor and she says they sleep as much as they need to and to enjoy it while you can.
Another solution submitted by PBS from Ft. Worth, TX: I've just had my first baby, so I'm certainly no expert. Your baby seems to have the same sleep pattern as mine at that age. At 10 weeks old, he began sleeping 9 to 10 hours at night. I used to wonder if I should wake him up to feed him. (I never did.) He has continued the same pattern. He goes to bed at 9:00pm and wakes between 6:00 and 7:00am. We feed him, change him, and he goes right back to sleep until about 9:00am. He then stays up for about 6 hours before napping.
