Problem: My son is almost 9 years old. For well over a year now he has, almost daily, come home from school or in from play with wet pants. When questioned, he says he "Doesn't remember" when he wet his pants. When questioned about why he didn't tell anyone that it had occurred, the says he "Didn't know." He drinks at least 8 glasses of water a day so that might be part of the problem; although, he never wets his bed at night. A year ago, he saw a pediatrician about this issue and was checked for diabetes (to understand why he drinks so much water). That came back fine. I've tried all sorts of tactics to try to make him aware of the issue--rewards, discussing other kids' reactions to this problem, using a watch to remind him to go to the bathroom, sending him to the shower each time it happens. Nothing seems to work. Each time I bring it up, he says "I'm sorry," and becomes acutely embarrassed.

I am a single parent and his father is a regular part of his life. We have discussed this issue together as a family and are seeking some direction.
