Seeking Advice on Infant Car Seats

Problem: Hello! We are looking forward to having our first child sometime toward the end of November, and we realize that in order to drive home from the hospital we must get a car seat! We are Consumer Reports readers, but they haven't done a complete review for 2-3 years, and we are looking for recommendations from parents who have recently purchased car seats. Actually, any positive or negative feedback would be appreciated.

We do know the basics, and we know the particular seat has to work in both of our cars. Please let us know if you have suggestions about a model you've found works well -- or not so well. Thank you very much for your time!

Solution submitted by Avery from Peterborough, ONT, CAN: For an infant car seat/stroller/carrier, try the evenflo 'on my way' system! there a god send.

Another solution submitted by Klee from Kamloops, BC, CAN: We have a Joyride car seat that we can carry around with us, but it does not have a base that we can easily place the car seat in, in the vehicle. This is an important factor to consider because we found that this Evenflow product is very difficult to secure with the shoulder belt. The back of the car seat has a small triangle type area to get the belt in & we've fought with it a number of times which is no fun with an upset infant. We suggest purchasing a car seat with a base for easy installing to make your busy life that much easier. Good luck!
