"Oatmeal Camarelitas "

Recipe Submitted by Shari from Washington, IL:

  • 2 Cups flour
  • 2 Cups Quick Oats
  • 1 1/2 Cups Brown Sugar
  • 1 Tea. baking soda
  • 1 Tea. salt
  • 1 1/2 Cups melted butter or margarine
  • 1 1/2 Cups semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 Cup chopped walnuts
  • 6 TBL. flour
  • 1 12 Oz. jar caramel topping (Butterscotch works well also)
  • Preheat oven to 350º F. Grease bottom & sides of a 13 x 9 pan. Combine 2 Cups flour, oats, sugar, baking soda, salt & butter in a large bowl. Mix well. Press half the mixture into the bottom of pan. Bake for 10 minutes. Sprinkle the chips and nuts over the hot crust. Mix the caramel topping with the 6TBL. flour well. Drizzle over the chocolate chips and nuts. Sprinkle the other half of the oatmeal mixture over the caramel. Bake for an additional 20-22 minutes. Let cool before slicing. Makes 40 squares.
