Problem: I have a two year old and we let the pacifier go too long. Any tips would be appreciated.
Solution submitted Martha from Seneca, SC: We had weaned our 3 year from the pacifier except at night. She slept with 7 or 8, literally, because she liked to hold one while she was asleep. A few months before Christmas, we began telling her that since she was 3, she was too big to sleep with pacifiers and Santa was going to take them on Christmas Eve and give them to babies. She seemed okay with that. Christmas Eve came and we made a big deal about leaving all of her pacifiers on a plate with the cookies and milk. She became very upset about that and refused to do it. That night while she was asleep, we took all of the pacifiers, including the one in her mouth! Santa left her a note thanking her and telling her that babies now had her pacifiers, and he left her presents in return. I was amazed at how well she responded. The first couple of nights she asked for them, but we just reminded her about Santa and she was okay. Good luck!
