Problem: My seven year old son has a very difficult time talking because of his stuttering. He has had this problem since the age of three. He is very, very shy and it is hard for him to make friends and/or communicate at all with the stuttering. He has gone to two different speech pathologists on several occasions but I have not seen any improvement whatsoever. I don't know where to turn for help for my son.

Solution submitted by Mom42 from South Bend, IN: There is always a possibility that the two speech therapists are not the right ones. Have you gone to the library or book store to look at books a bout stuttering? Have you talked to your pediatrician? Does your child feel pressure by you or family? With just a small amount of information you provided, its hard to tell what your next step should be. So some more research so see if that helps.
