Problem: My 4 and 6 yr old do not listen to anything I tell them. They are always getting into stuff they know they are not allowed to. My 2 yr old only does that kind of stuff when the other 2 are around. I took him to the mall and he was so well behaved. Now my other 2 would of been running around and yelling. They just do not listen to me at all. When their Step-Father is around they listen a little better. What do I do? I just want them to listen to me and do as I tell them.
Solution submitted by Nue from Rochester, MI: Punish them and follow through!!!! Following through with threats is very important such as taking their favorite toy away (actually throw in garbage and make sure they see.) You only have to do this one time. Most important...follow through with your threats. Also, recently We started a paper chain. Hung a paper plate on the wall and cut a slit in it. Got construction paper and cut into strips. Every night before my son goes to bed, if he behaves that entire day, he puts a loop on the plate, when the chain touched the floor, he gets to do a a special activity of his choice or get a special toy, whatever he chooses. However, if he misbehaves, we take a loop off. It's worth a try!! Good Luck
