Problem: Hi, my son is 3 months old and is also teething. He is too little for teething rings, so what do I do to help reduce his pain? I wondered if he really was teething so early, but everything going on with him points to that problem. So if there is anyone out there that has a solution or a way to help, e-mail me at austin1@clovernet.com.

Solution submitted by Maria M. from West Paterson, NJ: My son Andrew began drooling at 3 months old and having spells of irritability. I believe it was teething because he couldn't stop putting his fist in his mouth. So, not all babies are the same, and some do start early. He likes to use his pacifier for chewing, likes me to massage his gums, I give him Tylenol to relieve some of his discomfort, Baby Orajel occasionally, semi frozen wash cloth. Usually after the Tylenol and some crying or fussing, he generally dozes off for a while.

Another solution submitted by aimee: I would recommend using an infant sock, getting it wet and putting it in the freezer. As the baby sucks on it, it de-thaws and numbs his/her gums. Also try using the Hiland teething tablets, they are natural and dissolve instantly in the babies mouth. Good luck.

Another solution submitted by "New Mom" from PA: My 12 week old is also teething early. He has buds that are beginning to break through. We have found that giving Advil and using baby orajel helps. He also has been very fussy. Hopefully this will help you too.
