11 Year old bet wetter

Problem: My 11 year old little girl has wet the bed pretty consistently every night all of her life. We just always put her in a diaper at night. She never had a problem with this until recently. Our daughter said she did not want to were diapers anymore. She said she was to old for them. She did not want to were the Pull Ups GoodNights training pants either. I was wondering if anyone could give me advise on weather to keep her in diapers, or if I find an alternative to diapering. Any help would be appreciated.

Solution submitted by Dry in Alabama: I was a bedwetter until I was 13 years old. What worked for me was drinking a small amount of carbonated no-caffeine soda (orange crush, etc.) after my last trip to the bathroom at night and about 20 minutes before going to sleep. I was told that the muscle that holds the urine in the bladder opens when you urinate and does not close again until it senses liquid entering the bladder. I was such a deep sleeper, my brain never got the message to "close" the opening. The urine, leaks out during the night. The carbonated beverage goes through your system rather quickly and sends the message to "shut the door" to the bladder, before you fall asleep.

Another solution submitted by George: The best thing I have is to allow her to go without diapers as long as she is willing to take care of the sheets. After a week ask her honestly which is better wearing a diaper or sleeping on wet sheets. I have heard from many sleepwetters that have preferred to wearing a diaper over sleeping on wet sheets. I believe it should be her decision to wear diapers or not.
